Alliant’s Response to COVID-19

At Alliant, our first priority is always our people: the people we employ, the communities we serve, and the partners we work with. That’s why we have decided to take precautionary measures related to COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”) amidst concern and conversation as the situation continues to unfold across the country. Outlined below are some of the steps we are taking to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the Alliant family:

  • In an uncertain time like this, it’s important to us that we have professional expertise guiding our entire team. We brought in International SOS, the world’s leading medical services company, as a resource to provide expert medical advice and support as we navigate this situation. We now have direct access to one of the country’s top physicians, an expert in pandemic preparedness and response, who gives us real time and ongoing guidance on communication, preventative measures, as well as best practices we have already started to put in place. Our physician is among those currently asked to give their insight on national tv, so we’re confident we are being supported by the very best.
  • We have asked that our community partners develop and implement plans of action for each apartment community across the Alliant portfolio. This will include response plans in the event a resident shows symptoms, is confirmed to have COVID-19, or is quarantined for an extended period of time. It will also include communication and privacy methods, maintenance staff protection, accommodations for residents whose employment status or income may be impacted because of health or economic events, and staffing plans to prepare for local restrictions or employees’ personal situations.
  • We are carefully and closely monitoring sites that are currently under construction. Through the end of March, Alliant will be temporarily postponing any site visits by our employees to minimize risks resulting from airline travel. In compensation, we will be increasing our phone contacts and correspondence with our contractor and developer partners to monitor progress and keep abreast of any issues. In addition, as appropriate, we will be requesting additional photo documentation or other outside verification through trusted third parties to the extent that such information is able to be obtained. Any projects on our watch list will receive additional ongoing scrutiny.
  • Our offices have gone fully remote to protect the health and safety of our employees. We have instituted daily communication of preventative information, as well as access to telehealth resources for our workers.

Our hope is that everyone is as prepared as possible and that all of our partners, staff and residents remain vigilant and safe. We trust that you will understand these revisions to our typical practices as we continue to evaluate the situation going forward, and will keep you informed of any changes to policy as they become necessary.
